The Milwaukee Brewers will formally unveil a statue honoring Brewers Hall of Fame broadcaster Bob Uecker at Miller Park's Home Plate Plaza on Friday, Aug. 31. The ceremony will begin with a luncheon at Miller Park's Club Level Home Plate Lounge at noon. The formal unveiling program will begin at 1:30 p.m.
While the luncheon and seated ceremony are invitation only, there will be a very limited amount of standing room available at no charge for general public viewing surrounding the perimeter of the tent. Space will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Fans who attend will need to exit parking after the event and re-enter if they choose to attend that evening's game.
Uecker's statue will join those of Hank Aaron, Commissioner Allan H. "Bud" Selig and Robin Yount, which were unveiled on April 5, 2001, the first year of Miller Park's existence. The first two statues were donated by the Allan H. (Bud) Selig Foundation.
The statue will be cast in bronze, measure over seven feet in height not including the base, and is being designed and produced by Brian Maughan, who (along with Douglas Kwart) also created the Aaron, Selig and Yount statues.
