For the third straight year, Conde Nast Traveler readers have named the Iron Horse Hotel as one of the best hotels in the Midwest.

The award-winning hotel, located at 500 W. Florida St., claimed a 86.5 score in Conde Nast's survey, good enough to earn the No. 3 spot on the magazine's list of the best hotels in the Midwest. The 21C Museum Hotel in Cincinnati and the Graves 106 Hotel Wyndham Grand in Minneapolis earned the gold and silver medals, respectively.

The magazine's website notes that visitors should "expect 'a fun atmosphere within walking distance of the heart of Milwaukee'" with a "'very cool design' (that) includes sleek and modern rooms with original art, club chairs that have tattoo-inspired upholstery, and custom-leather and wood headboards – 'you feel like you are staying at a modern art museum.'"

Conde Nast Traveler also notes that the Iron Horse Hotel is "'the most masculine hotel you can imagine,'" a point echoed by Men's Health magazine this past summer when it named the property to its list of the 20 manliest hotels in America.

Nearly 80,000 people took part in Conde Nast Traveler's survey, totaling 1.3 million votes.
