San Diego: tell me what's on tap

What is a blog? For us it is a short blurb that we write when the mood strikes us. It can be first person, funny or informative. In short, a blog is whatever we want it to be. Published July 16, 2009 at 10:15 a.m.

I'm spending the weekend in San Diego to write a story about what's on tap there for visitors, as part of our Free Recession Buster Getaways blog contest with AirTran giving away two tickets and a netbook. Have you been there? What should I be sure not to miss? Sound off, readers!

I've read up on Balboa Park, I've got tickets to see the Padres, and I'm applying the sunblock for a day at the world-famous zoo and Sea World.

My great hotel is already booked and I've checked out the Web site for San Diego's Little Italy.

But be sure to let me know if there's something -- especially something a little off the beaten path -- that is a San Diego must-see.

Use the Talkback below today to give me your San Diego advice. And be sure to enjoy Festa in my absence.

Hey Bobby, definitely hit Hotel del Coronado, like another poster said. Seaport Village is good downtown, and then check out La Jolla and La Jolla Cove, north of Mission Bay. It's one of the nicest areas in SD and if you see a Mexican restaurant called Jose's, go in. And yes, I will be jealous.

I recently moved back t o Milwaukee after living in various parts of San diego for five years. Its a beautiful city year round and summer is full of great relaxing things to do. If you are a dog lover than Ocean Beach's or "OB" has a dog beach. The beach is leash free and is on the northern part of OB. My favorite breakfast/ bloody mary spot is in Pacific Beach or "PB." "World Famous" is right on the boardwalk and has some of the best people watching in the city. Finally the best burger in my opinion is at this little shack of a bar called Rocky's Crown Point. All they serve is beer, burgers and fries. Cool easy going bartenders and a step away from Mission Bay and Crown Point Shores park. If you go to SD, I would reccomend spending as much time on the wonderful beaches!

Just there in May and wandered around SD's Little Italy, which is great. Street festival was going on that night and people were out in full force. Had an AMAZING dinner at Buon Appetito. I would highly highly recommend it.
