Cradled in the heart of a 1,000-acre arboretum, the Boerner Botanical Gardens boasts a trove of gardens, paths and fountains decked out to impress. Especially lovely is the WPA-built, multi-level water garden.

Admission is charged from April 24 to Oct. 4.
