If you read what I write in this space you know I'm a big fan of the Friday fish fry, especially when potato pancakes are involved. Today, I'm pondering some different options.

Yesterday I wrote about our first visit to Schneider's, which reportedly has a really good fry. So, that's added to my list, though I'm not sure I want to do that two days after having had the pizza there. So, this one is likely on the back burner.

I also heard that Mason Street Grill is doing a $12.99 fry during Lent with Lake Michigan whitefish and the trimmings. It's not all you can eat, but a second plate is half-price and they'll toss in a glass of their own Mason Street Amber for an additional $2.

But a tweet from my Twitter friend Meg McKenna at the Wauwatosa Chamber of Commerce has plated up what will likely be on tonight's radar.

Cranky Al's, a stone's throw from home at 6901 W. North Ave., is doing a fish fry now, too. She tells me they're doing fries instead of potato pancakes, but encourages me to go in and vote with my feet (so to speak) for latkes.

So, assuming we're not eating in tonight, I think Cranky Al can expect to see us in a few hours.
