The hustle and bustle of the holiday season is winding down and the Milwaukee winter will settle upon us. Don't shutter yourself in the house – get out and enjoy some of the best food and drink events of the season.

Here are six:

1. Soundbites

The fourth annual Soundbites is a delicious event to benefit 88NINE RadioMilwaukee. There are 12 chef hosted tasting stations that offer up the perfect pairings of small plates and songs from your favorite djs and restaurants such as Goodkind, Story Hill BKC, Pastiche and more! Head to the Iron Horse Hotel for the Jan. 22 event for good grooves and grub.

2. MKEtable: Locavore

Post by #MKEfoodies

Milwaukee's MKEfoodies organization is putting on their very first event in a new series of events called MKEtable on Jan. 14. The events aim to showcase intimate dining experiences at area venues at an affordable price – and the first one is being held at Locavore in Potawatomi Hotel & Casino. The five-course meal will feature local products from area vendors – plus representatives from these purveyors will be available to talk about each course and will answer any questions you have for them.

3. Food & Froth

Think hundreds of craft beers, dozens of local restaurants and caterers, a handful of local bands, and three floors of exhibits – all held at the Milwaukee Public Museum. When was the last time you tasted a frothy beer next to a T. rex? This yearly after hours event sells out early – so don't wait till the last minute to get your ticket for the 17th annual one on Feb. 21!

4. Bittercube Apothecary

The Apothecary is starting to look party ready. Come see the finished product on January 6th!

You've tried and loved the products from Bittercube -- now you can check out their new Apothecary in the Lincoln Warehouse on the near southside on Jan. 6. The night will feature a special "Brush off the Dust" set with guest DJs Chris Rosneau and Jon Mueller (Volcano Choir & Collections of Colonies of Bees) spinning 78s. Cocktails will be available for sale in the Twisted Path tasting room – which is an organic, grain-to-glass micro-distillery just opening their doors to the public.

5. Goodkind

Goodkind in Bay View launched brunch service on New Years Day. If you missed it – shame on you -- but you can enjoy it on Sundays from here on out! Brunch includes choices such as oysters Rockefeller, pork cheek doughnuts with chocolate sauce and smoked sugar, and rotisserie prime rib with horseradish cream and jus. Plus, you can try out the delicious cocktail menu including their take on the traditional beermosa. Yum.

6. Dinner Lab

If you still haven't tried out Dinner Lab – get to it! This month's Milwaukee Dinner Lab brings Chicago chef Edgar Coronado – who has worked all over Chicago in such fine establishments as Belly Q, Mexique and currently as the Sous Chef at TWO. The Jan. 10 menu is an homage to his backpacking trip through Panama, Ecuador, Colombia and Peru in the winter of 2012. You won't know where the event is held till the day before – that is part of the fun of it – but some of the menu items include ceviche and braised pork cheeks. Try out Dinner Lab for a delicious and unique dining experience now!

Carolynn Buser is one of Milwaukee's loudest and most adamant cheerleaders (don't dare try to disagree). She's the primary voice behind much of OnMilwaukee's social media and content direction, and apologizes in advance if she can be too sarcastic at times.

What else? She's a wine lover, closet trashy novel reader, beauty supplies addict and devourer of cheese (shocker for a Wisconsin born and bred girl, right?). She's also a bit of a foodie, which is a word most of you hate, we know. She works as hard as she plays - and that includes in the gym! So, you've probably seen her at one of the area's newest restaurant openings (and yes, she will share her opinions good or bad) or enjoying a cold one at a local pub.

All in all, Carolynn's a believer in positive thinking and will do her best to smack down your negative ones while writing about her city, her loves, quests and more.
