Today marks the release of Flight Mechanics latest venture, a four-song EP called "Formed Light."
The duo, which consists of Sean "Seakn" Behling and Paul "Boost" Duquesnoy, bring forward an electronic project full of glitches, tempo changes, sudden movements and precise chaos.
The music on "Formed Light" plays out like a modern adaptation of Phillip Glass' work on Godfrey Reggio's "Qatsi" film trilogy. Instead of the backdrop being the land and infrastructure that Reggio's film shows the beauty and then decay of, the setting of this music is very much a party in club that goes from the slow beginning of an empty building and surrounding streets to the alcohol-filled and drug-addled sweaty grindfest clubs often become at the peak of the night.
Flight Mechanics have made "Formed Light" available to the consumer through a "name your price" promotion on their Bandcamp, which you can find here.
Whether you name your price as being free or if you decide to toss them a couple of bucks, this project is – at the very least – worth listening to, to try to see if you can wrap your mind around it.
