With the Miltown Beat Down over and done for this year, there's still no reason for any of its participants to grow any moss.

Mark V. has taken that rolling stone mindset and released a new beat tape for the month of July.

Mark's sounds are built around soulful chops and stabs, similar to his good friend – and neighbor – Dylan Thomas.

Though Mark didn't fare well in this year's MTBD, that is no reflection of the quality of his work. Dylan Thomas never won the MTBD and he is easily one of the consistently freshest producers the Milwaukee scene has.

Mark doesn't have a name amongst scenesters yet, but as soon as the emcees find him – I firmly believe that Mark V. is a name that will grow in reputation.

Born in Milwaukee and raised in the Milwaukee suburb of Brown Deer, Concordia University Wisconsin alumnus Poppe has spent the majority of his life in or around the city and county of Milwaukee.

As an advocate of Milwaukee's hip-hop community Poppe began popular local music blog Milwaukee UP in March 2010. Check out the archived entries here.

Though heavy on the hip-hop, Poppe writes about other genres of music and occasionally about food, culture or sports, and is always ready to show his pride in Milwaukee and Wisconsin.
