On Wednesday, the Common Council’s License Committee recommended a denial of a tavern dance license for the A-1 Supper Club and Ultra Lounge.

Alds. Nik Kovac, Milele Coggs and committee chair Jim Bohl voted no to the license and, therefore, if the establishment opens as a bar and restaurant, it will not feature a dance floor or host live events.

The East Side Business Improvement District and Association said the neighborhood has enough dance clubs, and numerous East Side residents objected to the dance license because they feared it would generate noise and traffic.

Marc Brown hoped to open the restaurant and dance club in the former WOW Cafe and Wingery, 2116 N. Farwell Ave. It is uncertain at this point if Brown will open his establishment, sans nightclub, or pass on the plan entirely.

"We're not ready to make any decisions at this point," says Brown.
