More patios on which to enjoy safer dining? Yes please.

The Milwaukee Active Streets for Business program, which allows restaurants to make use of sidewalks, parking lanes and travel lanes for expanded patio seating, has been extended for a second time.

The program, launched by the City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works in June of 2020, was extended last November to accommodate outdoor dining throughout the winter; but it was scheduled to sunset on March 15, 2021.

However, the city has extended the program through November 15, 2021, allowing participants to apply for a permit for extended outdoor operations through the remainder of spring, summer and early fall.

The application for program participation, plus a full list of guidelines is available at city.milwaukee.gov/dpw.
