Fans of Mexican food in Brookfield have one less dining option this week. Agavé Southwestern Grille, 18380 W. Capitol Dr., closed permanently on Saturday.

The restaurant, which was owned by the Pandl family and Dave Kelley, opened in 2008 in the space formerly occupied by Seigo's Japanese Steakhouse.

Agavé earned a solid review from OnMilwaukee.com dining critic Amy Schubert, who was impressed by the "well-considered menu of entrées and sandwiches, tapas, cevichés, sliders, and Southwest-inspired pizzas."

Sources say that Bartolotta's Mr. B's Steakhouse has looked at the space and might be a replacement tenant. Jennifer Bartolotta confirmed that they "have been talking to them for awhile."
