Earlier this month we wrote about the increased air travel options at Milwaukee's General Mitchell International Airport. Indeed, competition is a good thing.

Today, the Airline Biz blog on dallasnews.com noticed the increased focus on flights in and out of our fine city, too.  Also today we received word that October 2009 was the busiest October on record at General Mitchell International Airport. The October total of 705,989 passengers was an increase of 21.15 percent over last October’s 582,722 passengers, and was the first time more than 700,000 passengers used the Milwaukee airport in the month of October.  In addition, airport director Barry Bateman said, "With 48 markets, Mitchell International has moved up to 28th among U.S. airports in number of markets served nonstop, according to new data published by the Brookings Institute." Mitchell’s rank in a similar 2004 study was 34th.

Back to the Dallas item now.  In a blog with the beautiful title "American Eagle joins the Milwaukee love fest," reporter Terry Maxon writes about American Eagle adding two round trips a day between Dallas/Forth Worth and Milwaukee next year.

He continues, "You'll remember that AirTran Airways three weeks ago said it would launch service between D/FW and Milwaukee on April 6. AirTran is starting out with two daily round trips."

This is all great news for air travel in and out of Brew City.
