Two finalists were axed on Wednesday night's installment of Fox's "American Idol," thanks to last week's save of the talented "Big Mike" Lynche.
This week, he wasn't even in the bottom three. Sent home was Katie Stevens, 17, of Middlebury, Conn. Although talented, she hadn't quite developed a definable persona along with her natural singing ability.
The first finalist sent home Wednesday night was Andrew Garcia, which wasn't a surprise.
Although he got a lot of attention early,the 24-year-old Garcia, from Moreno Valley, Calif., hadn't really distinguished himself for weeks.
Wednesday night's carnage leaves seven finalists competing for a recording contract.
Tim Cuprisin is the media columnist for OnMilwaukee.com. In the fall of 1994, a lifetime of serious television viewing earned him a daily column in the Milwaukee Journal (and, later the Journal Sentinel) focusing on TV and radio.
