Local artists will bring new shades to Red Arrow Park as a part of Milwaukee Downtown's new Art in the Park series.
A part of Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21's Jumpst(ART) Downtown campaign, Art in the Park will bring a variety of local artists through Aug. 11 to create live chalk murals and canvas paintings to help activate the space.
“We look forward to invigorating Red Arrow Park with public art this summer,” said Beth Weirick, CEO of Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21, in a release. “Hosting live art is an exciting way to connect visitors and our workforce with our thriving art community and our wonderful Milwaukee County Parks system.”
Sara Bott will serve as the series' first artist, creating a canvas painting in Red Arrow Park on Friday, July 9. The rest of the schedule is as follows:
- July 14: Drew York (canvas painting)
- July 17: Erico Ortiz and Shelley Heath (chalk mural)
- July 23: John Kowalczyk (canvas painting)
- July 30: Ken Brown and Teresa Sahar (chalk mural)
- Aug. 6: Kimberly Burnett (canvas painting)
- Aug. 11: K. Dyble Thompson (chalk mural) and Stephanie Krellwitz (canvas painting)

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
