Aveni's Italian Specialties grocery store and deli, 1664 N. Van Buren St., has closed to make way for Orlando's Deli, which had been located around the corner at 932 E. Pleasant St.
Owner Terry Aveni told OnMilwaukee.com recently that he had been entertaining offers on the building and was seriously considering moving Aveni's into the Milwaukee Public Market in the Third Ward. Aveni had considered building condos on the site and said that the new owners may or may not pursue that project.
