I like bars and grocery stores, so when Carol Voss from Independence First passed this flowingdata.com report along to me I had to react.

Check it out. A Google map overlay shows grocery stores and bars across the country. The red, obviously, are the bars. You think the Midwest likes its drinking? Wow.

Of course, as the post points out, people buy alcohol in grocery stores and just because the Midwest has more bars than grocers it doesn't necessarily mean that its residents consume more alcohol than the average Joe. Although, stats do tend to show this.
