Season's eatings! The weather may be getting colder, but Dining Month on OnMilwaukee is just cooking up, dishing out your winning picks in this year's Best of Dining poll. Dining Month is brought to you by Fein Brothers, your premier food service equipment and supply dealer in Wisconsin since 1929. Congratulations to all of the winners, and happy eating for all those who voted!

Birch + Butcher

There was a loaded slate of candidates for Milwaukee's best new restaurant of 2018, with several culinary newcomers scoring well with voters. However, only one could come out on top of the scrumptious scrum of restaurant rookies. And that was Birch + Butcher, which beat out the second-place runner-up with just over 40 votes.

The restaurant, headed up by Bartolotta Restaurants' alum Miles Borghgraef, was a first for the city of Milwaukee, opening last November with a full menu of delicious fare, much of which was coaxed to perfection over the flames of a wood-fired hearth.

At its very core, Birch + Butcher is a concept that's simultaneously forward-thinking and primal. It's a place where locally-sourced foods, including meat and farm-fresh vegetables, are treated with care and respect as their flavors are harnessed and concentrated through the power of fire.

Runners-up:

2.  Brandywine
3.  Oak Barrel Public House
4.  Snack Boys
5.  Hungry Sumo
