It's time for Dining Month, presented by Deer District and its spooky Halloween-themed alter ego, Fear District. Throughout the month of October, we'll be serving up fun and fascinating content about all things food. The signature dish, however, is our 2019 Best of Dining poll, with winners getting dished out all month long. Get hungry, Milwaukee!
Uncle Wolfie's Breakfast Tavern
There was a loaded slate of candidates for Milwaukee's best new restaurant of 2019, with several culinary newcomers scoring well with voters. However, only one could come out on top of the scrumptious scrum of restaurant rookies. And that was Uncle Wolfie's Breakfast Tavern, which beat out the second-place runner-up with just under 50 votes.
The restaurant, located in a long vacant historic Miller Brewing Company tied house, opened in December 2018, showcasing a cozy, welcoming space with an eclectic bohemian vibe. Pair that with a menu of breakfast, brunch and lunch favorites like steak and eggs, a roasted cauliflower omelette, two bangin' burgers and the Uncle Wolfie's flagship sandwich, the BELTCH, which features toasted sourdough filled with bacon, eggs, lettuce, tomatoes, cheddar and sambal aioli.
It's a place where creative comfort food is king. And if you haven't yet been, it's definitely a must-try to put on your list.
