For the seventh straight year, October is Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com, presented by the restaurants of Potawatomi. All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, delectable features, chef profiles and unique articles on everything food, as well as the winners of our "Best of Dining 2013."
This year, we combined the best breakfast and best brunch categories into one. But even with that slight change, the winner has stayed the same. For the third year in a row, OnMilwaukee.com readers voted Blue's Egg the best breakfast/brunch in the city.
The three-time reader-selected champion, located at 317 N. 76th St., received more than double the votes of the distant second place finisher, the tag-team combination of Cafe Benelux and Cafe Hollander. Rounding out the rest of the top five breakfast/brunch category are the Original Pancake House, Beans & Barley and Café at the Plaza.
The restaurant, owned by Dan Sidner and executive chef Joseph Muench, has become the go-to stop for breakfast or brunch. It often has the long lines to prove it, but at the end of those long waits lies delicious, made-from scratch dishes that taste both cozy and gourmet.
It seems we, the editors, are still feeling the love too because, for the fourth year running, we also named Blue's Egg the best of breakfast/brunch. Some might call it a predictable choice. We'll call it simply good eats.
