Your votes are in, Milwaukee, and you have selected the winners of OnMilwaukee's Best Dining 2011. We're announcing the results of this readers' poll, including our editors' pick, in a series of articles that run all October long during Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com.

For the fifth straight year, October is Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com, presented by Concordia University. All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, delectable features, chef profiles and unique articles on everything food, as well as the winners of our "Best of Dining 2011."

Ask 10 people what they consider "comfort food" and you're likely to get just as many different answers, if not more.

No matter what your idea of comfort food may be, it's all along the same lines: familar, tasty and often, no-frills ... comfortable.

Of the 15 candidates for Milwaukee's Best Comfort Food, there were four - Maxie's Southern Comfort, Comet Cafe, Honeypie and Kopp's - that pulled away from the pack but ultimately, it was returning champ Maxie's that pulled ahead with the top honor.

A little more than four years since opening in what was once a butcher/grocery store at 6732 W. Fairview Ave., Maxie's has become well established as a hot spot on the West Side.

With a menu heavy on southern favorites, barbecue and seafood, Maxie's delivers time and time again.
