Your votes are in, Milwaukee, and you have selected the winners of OnMilwaukee's Best Dining 2011. We're announcing the results of this readers' poll, including our editors' pick, in a series of articles that run all October long during Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com.
For the fifth straight year, October is Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com, presented by Concordia University. All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, delectable features, chef profiles and unique articles on everything food, as well as the winners of our "Best of Dining 2011."
In a way, it's a new place that was the clear choice of readers this year, along with an old one. Glorioso Brothers Italian grocery is a mainstay of Brady Street, but it's not the old, cramped locale we're talking about.
Less than a year ago, Glorioso's moved, lock, stock and pepperoni, across the street to larger, more comfortable digs at 1011 E. Brady St. It's a dramatic change for the 65-year-old business, but a reinforcement of the familiar collection of Italian foods, sandwiches, salads, cheeses and meats.
In addition to the traditional standbys, there's pizza, gelato, a bigger bakery than ever and a coffee/espresso bar. But the move hasn't changed the Sunday morning tradition of hot ham and rolls.
In its old locale, Glorioso's won the 2010 competition.
