For the seventh straight year, October is Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com, presented by the restaurants of Potawatomi. All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, delectable features, chef profiles and unique articles on everything food, as well as the winners of our "Best of Dining 2013."
Many great new restaurants opened in Milwaukee in the past year, but OnMilwaukee.com readers picked Wolf Peach as the very best.
Rounding out the top five best new restaurants in Milwaukee, according to you, are Atlas BBQ, Pizza Man, Bel Air Cantina (Tosa) and Simple Cafe.
Wolf Peach, 1818 N. Hubbard St., is located in the former Roots space, which features a dining room on the main level and a lower-level bar. Like Roots, it has an upscale rustic look and feel and features one of the city’s most spectacular urban views.
The restaurant and bar – which the staff at OnMilwaukee.com also selected as its fave among new places – offers European-inspired cuisine made from local and seasonal ingredients.
Executive Chef Dan Jacob's dinner menu features a combination of large and small plate offerings as well as Neopolitan-style pizzas.
The brunch menu boasts a variety of classic and unique dishes such as a SMASHburger, two cheeseburger patties, hash browns, bacon and sauteed onions served over two eggs with a side of maple syrup.
The restaurant, owned by Gina Gruenewald, practices a service style called "como viene" which means "as it comes." Therefore, the dishes are served individually, as soon as they are prepared, to ensure freshness.
