Season's eatings! October may be over, but Dining Month on OnMilwaukee, presented by the restaurants of Potawatomi Hotel & Casino, is still cooking, dishing out your winning picks in this year's Best of Dining poll. Congratulations to all of the winners, and happy eating for all those who voted!
Gloriosos
It was another nail-biting contest for Milwaukee's best sandwiches with three restaurants vying for the top spot through the bitter end. Ultimately, Milwaukee's favorite Italian grocer, Gloriosos, won the day. But, both Cafe Lulu and Bavette La Boucherie followed oh-so-closely behind.
Glorioso's has been a Milwaukee fixture ever since its beginnings in 1946. The family owned business began as an Italian grocer, specializing in imported pastas, cheeses and charcuterie not easily found elsewhere in Milwaukee. However, Glorioso's is also known for its deli, which not only serves up freshly sliced meats and cheeses, housemade meatballs and Italian beef, but also sandwiches like the Caprese with tomatoes, mozzarella and balsamic vinaigrette and the Human Torch filled with hot capicollo, hot calabrese, Glorioso's famous torch spread, provolone, and hot muffalatta.
