For the sixth straight year, October is Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com, presented by Concordia University. All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, delectable features, chef profiles and unique articles on everything food, as well as the winners of our "Best of Dining 2012."
Your votes are in, Milwaukee, and you have selected the winners of OnMilwaukee's Best Dining 2012. We're announcing the results of this readers' poll, including our editors' pick, in a series of articles that run all October long during Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com.
OnMilwaukee.com readers picked the view from Harbor House as the city's best again this year, giving the restaurant the title for the third straight time.
Two years ago the then-new Harbor House, located in the former Pieces of Eight, toppled the long-reigning Roots from its pedestal as chronic winner in the Best View category of our annual Best Dining poll.
This year, the seafood-focused Bartolotta eatery solidified its lead by earned nearly twice as many votes as the second-place finisher, Bartolotta's Lake Park Bistro. Alterra at the Lake was third and Roots, which recently, closed, fell to fourth place in its final year on the ballot.
Each place, however, offers stunning, if distinctly different eye candy out its windows. While Harbor House offers close-up views of Lake Michigan, the U.S. Bank Building, Discovery World and the Milwaukee Art Museum, Lake Park Bistro is situated in an idyllic lakeside park setting.
For our editors' choice, we picked the great view of the the gathering of the waters, just northwest of the Hoan Bridge, afforded by the patio at Milwaukee Sail Loft, in the Third Ward.
