The food is good. The beer is cold. But, Leff's Lucky Town isn't flashy, fancy or very remarkable.

And, the customers in Wauwatosa like it that way.

Located in a historic building that once housed a silent movie theater and a shoe store that fronted a Prohibition speakeasy, Leff's, 7208 W. State St., is the top vote-getter  for best bar in Wauwatosa in the readers' poll.

Leff's -- which claims to have one of the world's biggest urinals -- has become a landmark Tosa watering hole and is especially popular before and after Brewers games.

Last year, owner Chris Leffler took over an old gas station next door to build a patio that allows Leff's to offer outdoor dining that has been a staple for years at Hector's, a Mexican restaurant across the street to the south and is a big attraction at the new Cafe Hollander location nearby.

The editorial staff, is also partial to Club Tap, 8828 W. North Ave., which just may be Wauwatosa's oldest bar. It's a friendly, low-key neighborhood place that also serves up a mean taco. editors' choice: Club Tap
