This is a quiz. Use a No. 2 pencil. No cheating.

What do the following words/phrases have in common? New Mexico, Famous Idaho Potato, Beef O'Brady's, Poinsettia, Maaco, Independence, Little Caesars, Belk, Military, Champs Sports, Armed Forces, Pinstripe, Mjusic City, Insight, Meineke Car Care, Fight Hunger, Chick-Fil-A, Ticketcity, Capital One, BBVA Compass and GoDaddy.

I know this seems like a wildly disparate list, but believe me, they all have something in common.

Give up? I understand.

The answer is that if you put the word "bowl" them you have won the prize.

Every one of those things has a college football bowl. If anyone things that college sports has gotten out of hand, just take a look at that list.

There is absolutely no legitimate reason to have all these bowl games. The only thing they do is allow the company to bring in customers for a good time and for the colleges to make money.

Money is the root of all that is evil, especially in college football.

With a history in Milwaukee stretching back decades, Dave tries to bring a unique perspective to his writing, whether it's sports, politics, theater or any other issue.

He's seen Milwaukee grow, suffer pangs of growth, strive for success and has been involved in many efforts to both shape and re-shape the city. He's a happy man, now that he's quit playing golf, and enjoys music, his children and grandchildren and the myriad of sports in this state. He loves great food and hates bullies and people who think they are smarter than everyone else.

This whole Internet thing continues to baffle him, but he's willing to play the game as long as OnMilwaukee.com keeps lending him a helping hand. He is constantly amazed that just a few dedicated people can provide so much news and information to a hungry public.

Despite some opinions to the contrary, Dave likes most stuff. But he is a skeptic who constantly wonders about the world around him. So many questions, so few answers.
