In March 2005, OnMilwaukee.com reported that Dave Swanson, a former Sanford chef, would open his own restaurant, Braise, this summer in an unique space at 249 N. Water St. on the Milwaukee River in the Historic Third Ward.

OMC has now learned that negotiations for the lease of the space have broken down and that Swanson is close to selecting another location for his restaurant that will serve simple, locally grown food. Once Swanson signs a new lease, we will update this continuing story.

The space at 249 N. Water St. has now attracted new interest as other downtown restaurant owners are attempting to come to a deal with the building owner.
