In August of 2014 Mike Brenner opened Brenner Brewing Co. in Walker’s Point to the public. At the time, Brenner was the only brewery on the block, but was soon joined by MobCraft and Urban Harvest Breweries, along with a myriad of new businesses (and more on the way!)
Tonight on Facebook, Brenner announced he will close his brewery after this weekend. He received an eviction notice in June. He will, however, continue to brew and sell his beer.
Brenner’s Facebook post reads:
While I will still be brewing Brenner Beer (as a gypsy brewer at other people’s breweries) and selling it all over Wisconsin, I am being forced to close the physical brewery and tasting room after this weekend. Come down and celebrate me not ever having to scrub puke out of subway tile again (professionally at least), and try out some of the incredible sour beers we’ve bottled the past few weeks.
The remaining public hours at Brenner Brewing Co. are Wednesday from 4 to 10 p.m.; Friday from 4 to 11 p.m.; Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday until after the Packers game and potluck.
It’s speculated that another brewery is attempting to purchase his equipment and move in.
Fifth Street is growing and changing so quickly – it is arguably the hottest street, or about to be the hottest street, in the city. Mexican restaurants, The Fuel, art galleries, Hamburger Marys, a hair salon and unique retail shops are already there. What would you like to see move into the Brenner space?
