The Brewers used both of their first round picks Monday in the MLB First-year Player Draft on college pitchers.
With the first of their two picks, the Brewers chose right-handed pitcher Taylor Jungmann of the University of Texas at No. 12.
Jungmann, 21, is one of three finalists for the Golden Spikes Award, given to the top amateur player in the country, and owns a 13-1 record with a 1.39 ERA (129.1 IP, 20 earned runs) in 16 starts for the Longhorns. Earlier Monday, Jungman threw a scoreless inning as Texas advanced in the NCAA tournament with a 5-0 victory over Kent State.
During the regular season, Jungmann went 12-0 with a 0.95 ERA and 109 strikeouts, landing his second straight spot on the All-Big 12 team and was named the conference's pitcher of the year.
Following his senior year at Georgetown (Texas) High School, Jungmann was drafted in the 24th round of the 2008 draft by the Los Angels of Anaheim but he instead opted to attend Texas.
Three picks later, the Brewers went with Georgia Tech lefty Jed Bradley, who finished his junior season with a 7-3 record and a 3.49 ERA (16 starts, 98 innings pitches, 38 earned runs) and tied for the team lead with 106 strikeouts.
He was rated the 14th-best overall prospect by Baseball America.
