The Milwaukee Brewers launch a new TV show this weekend. The team, in conjunction with MLB Productions, gives fans a look behind the scenes of a Major League team preparing for an upcoming season under new ownership. The first of the five-part series entitled "Go Brewers! 2005 All-Access Ticket" premieres in the Milwaukee area on WDJT-TV (CBS-58) on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 6:30 pm.
This one-of-a-kind look at the Brewers will feature a series of interviews and private moments with new owner Mark Attanasio; a behind-the-scenes look at the daily activities of the club; profiles of newcomers Carlos Lee and Damian Miller and current high profile players such as Ben Sheets, Lyle Overbay and Geoff Jenkins; the battles for the starting third base, center field and the bullpen closer roles; the progress of some of the Brewers' top prospects; and enhancements to Miller Park.
"There has been a great appetite for news about the Brewers, and, frankly, the ownership change is part of it," said Attanasio. "This series is the first show of its kind in Major League Baseball, and will give our fans a unique look at what has gone on over the last several months on the baseball side and in terms of making their experience the best it can be."
According to David Gavant, executive producer of MLB Productions, "No team has undertaken showing its fans just what they want to know: what is going on behind the scenes. We applaud the Brewers' new management for taking this bold step, appreciate their willingness to think outside the box, and turning to us to produce it with them."
The initial airing of each episode of "Go Brewers! 2005 All-Access Ticket" will be on WDJT-TV with replays on WMLW-TV and Fox Sports Net, the Brewers' television home. DirecTV viewers in the region and across the rest of the country will also be able to see the program.
The first four episodes will be 30 minutes long, and the final one will be an hour-long live broadcast from Miller Park, during the rescheduled Brewers On-Deck event April 3.
In the first broadcast, viewers will see footage of Attanasio's approval at the MLB owners meeting last month in Scottsdale, Ariz. as well as his first meeting with Brewers players. Other segments include Lee's and Miller's first visits to Milwaukee as members of the Brewers and general manager Doug Melvin's observations about the winter's baseball moves.
