Thanks to a Federal Transportation Alternatives Program grant and a match from the City of Milwaukee totaling $4.15 million, Bublr Bikes will expand its bikeshare network.

The money – the largest investment in the system since it launched in 2014 – will allow Bublr to double the number of stations over the next year.

There are currently more than 100 bike rental stations in Milwaukee, Wauwatosa and West Allis.

You can see the locations of the existing and future stations on this map. Yard signs will be placed around the city in coming weeks to identify general locations of future Bublr stations.

According to Bublr, 80 percent of Bublr stations are co-located with MCTS stops and the new sites will continue this co-location to help close last-mile transportation gaps.

The grant money will also fund 500 more e-bikes this summer and 800 new docks.

“This investment of federal and local funds will increase access to affordable, reliable, and sustainable transportation options throughout the city,” said Laura Bolger, Bublr Bikes executive director. “Bublr has worked with the City of Milwaukee to determine the locations of these new stations, strategically identifying areas that will help us to connect communities through biking.

"Successful Bikeshare networks are designed so riders are never more than 2-3 blocks away from the nearest station. This expansion moves Bublr in that direction and keeps Milwaukee’s bikeshare as one of the best in the country.”

Residents can complete a Bublr 2.0 feedback survey found on the
City’s Engage MKE site. Completing the survey will get you a discount code for an annual membership.

“Bikeshare is a great option for residents and visitors in Milwaukee, and I am so pleased Bublr is growing with this grant,” Mayor Cavalier Johnson said. “Increasingly, our city has wonderful transportation choices. Bublr Bikes is one of the best examples of that.”
