The Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) canceled its bus service for Summerfest this season, as first reported by Urban Milwaukee.

In previous years, the MCTS Summerfest service included a Downtown shuttle and Freeway Flyers transporting fairgoers from nine park-and-rides in Milwaukee and Ozaukee counties.

This came as a surprise to Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. and they released the following statement:

“Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. was notified Friday that Milwaukee County Transit will not offer special summer service to Summerfest, the ethnic festivals or Wisconsin State Fair in 2021. Our team was planning a full transit operation in cooperation with MCTS as in the past, so their sudden decision was unanticipated and completely contrary to all recent communications. With appreciation for the importance of transportation options for our patrons, we will immediately begin exploring potential alternatives.”
