Founded by Lois and Alan Margolet in 1976 in Delaware, Capriotti's Sandwich Shop now has numerous locations in the Northeast and Southwest areas of the country.

As part of its expansion into the Midwest, Capriotti's has leased a corner space in the Chase Tower Building at 111 E. Wisconsin Ave. in Downtown Milwaukee. Erik Madisen Architects and Campbell Construction are doing the design and build out.

I've never had a Capriotti's sandwich, but they look good on their site. And, I'm glad that this space (formerly Mocais Cafe) has a new tenant.

Here's a bit more on Capriotti's from its "About us" section.

"In 1987, Lois and Alan added a partner, their cousin Diane Rizzo, and together they opened their second and third stores in New Castle and Newark, Delaware. Thereafter, the signature sandwiches, such as the "BobbieÂ" and other specialty sandwiches, were introduced. The formula was so successful that franchising was offered to family members. Later, due to such great demand, franchising was offered to others outside of the family. Today, Capriotti's Sandwich Shops located around the country are carrying on the tradition begun in Delaware over 30 years ago."

No word on an opening day.  I'd guess it will be a few months.  A cafe called Cafe Dulce also is set to open inside the Chase Tower in the comng months.  Stay tuned for more details, as we get them, on both Capriotti's and Cafe Dulce.
