Late this afternoon, Potawatomi Bingo Casino officials announced they will unveil a plan tomorrow morning for the Menomonee Valley casino. Word is that it's a hotel.
A source that asked to remain anonymous told OnMilwaukee.com that the "major announcement" would be that the casino would add a hotel.
Tonight BizTimes editor and OnMilwaukee.com contributor Steve Jagler told WISN-TV that he has confirmed the hotel project.
"We have confirmed that the announcement tomorrow by the Potawatomi will indeed include a hotel,"Jagler told Channel 12 News. "That's going to be a tourism magnet for Milwaukee. There's no reason to believe this hotel will be anything but a resounding success."
Jagler said he has been tracking the hotel story since September and although the scope of the project remains unknown, it's expected to run in the area of $240 million.
"Having a hotel right at their site, I think, is a strategic decision by the Potawatomi," Jagler said.
A Potawatomi spokesman declined to speak about the announcement in advance of Tuesday's 11 a.m. press conference.
