On July 6, Chase Cain joins the "WISN 12 News This Morning" team as co-anchor with Melinda Davenport. Cain replaces Patrick Paolantonio, who will move to the station’s evening newscasts.
Cain arrives in Milwaukee from San Diego, where he was morning anchor at the local CW affiliate, XETV.
"Chase will make a wonderful addition to an already great team," Jan Wade, president and general manager said in a release this week. "Melinda fit in here immediately, and now Chase will become part of the very dynamic group that includes Sally Severson, Matt Salemme and Tim Elliott. Chase is a smart, caring and engaged journalist who has great passion for story-telling. He enjoys what he does, and I think viewers will see that right away."
Change is the nature of the broadcast world, and musical chairs happens all of the time in TV news markets across the nation. It looks like, come this fall, there will be some moves at all four local outlets.
"I feel incredibly fortunate to join Milwaukee’s No. 1 newsroom," Cain said in a statement. "WISN 12 is one of those increasingly rare news organizations which combine veteran journalists, a wealth of resources, and constant innovation to effectively serve its viewers. I’m confident Melinda, Sally, Tim, Matt, and I will quickly build upon what’s already the best morning show in town."
WISN-TV won "Best Morning Newscast" in May from the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association.
"I am absolutely looking forward to Chase’s move to Milwaukee," Davenport said. "We hit it off immediately and I think he’ll add a great dimension to ‘WISN 12 News This Morning.’ I believe we have a strong team with Tim’s recent arrival, along with veterans Sally and Matt, who are the pillars of the show."
A NEW HOME: Earlier this week, Milwaukee Radio Alliance presented Dan Kyle as its new evening radio personality on Trending Radio 93.3 WLDB-FM. Kyle gets to run the board from 7 p.m. to midnight on Monday to Friday.
"I’m thrilled to be on the air again full time and I’m looking forward to playing a larger role at the new Trending Radio 93.3," Kyle said in a statement.
According to WLDB, Kyle joined the Milwaukee Radio Alliance in December for production and weekend and fill in on-air work. Before that, he was with iHeartMedia at WRIT as its evening personality for five years, and the previous eleven years were spent with Journal Broadcast Group as midday host at the former WKTI and sports anchor for WTMJ-AM. Kyle will continue to work production for the Milwaukee Radio Alliance and run his own business, Brandcast Networks, on the side.
"After hiring Van McNeil for mornings, I was looking for another person whose name rhymed with mine to put on the air at night," said Stan Atkinson, Trending Radio 93.3 Program Director.
"Dan has done an outstanding job doing fill in and weekend shifts for us after joining our Production Department over the winter. He sounds great and will be a fine addition to our weekday lineup."
