Surprise! Again!

This morning, Miller Brewing and the Pabst Theater Group announced the return of its "Cheers to Milwaukee" free surprise summer concert, hosted at the Riverside Theater on Friday, June 8, at 8:30 p.m. (Doors open at 7) And while we don't know who you'll being going to see, we do know that you'll leave with a free ticket to Summerfest. That's two free things in one night!

"The sunshine has finally arrived and we’re ready to celebrate alongside our neighbors," said Jim Kanter, MillerCoors general manager for Wisconsin, in a press release. "Whether it’s taking in a Brewers game, catching a performance at Summerfest or enjoying a day at the State Fair, Miller Brewing is proud to be part of these experiences in a city we’ve called home for over 160 years."

The event debuted last year with a surprise show from Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins' '80s cover band Chevy Metal that overall pleased everyone – save for those who thought Miller and the Riverside booked the entire Foo Fighters or Beyonce or every single Milwaukee resident's favorite band all gathered on one stage for a free mystery concert.

"We are thrilled to join Milwaukee's hometown brewer, Miller Brewing, to help kickstart the summer festivities for Milwaukee residents with a free concert at the Riverside Theater that we know everyone will love," said Gary Witt, CEO of The Pabst Theater Group, in the release.

"We are proud that the Riverside Theater has played a role in helping to bring Milwaukee back to life and ‘Cheers to Milwaukee’ will be another great reason to come Downtown."

While the show is free, you do need a ticket, which will be available beginning today at the Girl in the Moon shop at the Miller Brewery (starting at 10 a.m.), the Summerfest box office (starting at 10 a.m.) and The Pabst Theater box office (starting at noon). Tickets are all locations are limited on a first come, first served basis, so it might be best if you stop reading this article now and go get yours while you can. We'll wait ...

Welcome back. Anyways, the afternoon leading up to the show, Miller will also buy folks beers at local watering holes throughout the community. That's a potential free beer before the show, a free Summerfest ticket after the show and, oh yeah, a free show. So no complaining about the act allowed.

For more information, visit the "Cheers to Milwaukee" Facebook event page. Otherwise, it's time to start guessing the act and making Elton John at the Harley 100 jokes in the comments.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
