When Andy Tarnoff said, "let's go grab a snack and talk about (insert work issue here)," I readily agreed. When we stopped in front of the gelato case, I decided to turn the snack into research. You know, "research."
I thought it would be interesting to compare the chocolate gelato at Whole Foods to the chocolate sorbetto, even though I suspected it wasn't going to be much of a fight.
And I was right.
Chocolate gelato is made from cream. Chocolate sorbetto is made with water, instead. Hardly a fair fight, I know.
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't kick the chocolate sorbetto, which is pretty smooth and tasty, out of my cone, but it's the creamy, rich gelato that really gets me going.
The sorbetto is almost like chocolate italian ice, though it's smoother, less gritty. If you're counting calories, this is the choice for you and you likely won't be disappointed.
But if fat content is no object, our friend gelato will win every time.
