July 4 has passed, but the celebrations continue. For example, the Cudahy Historical Society hosts a Naturalization Ceremony on Thursday, July 10, at 10 a.m. at Immigrant Family Park, 4647 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.

At the event, emceed by Milwaukee County Supervisor Patricia Jursik of Ceremonies, a federal judge will administer the Oath of Citizenship to new Americans and Cudahy Mayor Ryan McCue and Historical Society President Cherri Nadolny will speak.

Congresswoman Gwen Moore worked to make this experience possible, as naturalization proceedings normally occur within the Federal Building.

The ceremony - which normally takes place at the Federal Building in Downtown Milwaukee - offers Cudahy residents the chance to witness an exciting moment in the lives of new citizens and to think about how immigrants have built and shaped the country.

For more info contact the Cudahy Historical Society at (414) 769-0954. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
