Mequon, Wis. – Students in the Physician Assistant Studies program at Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW) have launched a fundraiser to benefit The Guest House of Milwaukee, which is the largest publicly-funded homeless shelter, helping people overcome homelessness.

Faculty, staff and students are invited to donate a meal swipe – from their pre-paid lunch cards -- or give a cash donation while dining on campus. Donations are being collected between the hours of 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on weekdays from Jan. 26 through Feb. 6. Resident Assistants will also have forms available to collect meal donations from students in the residence halls.

The fundraiser is the embodiment of Concordia’s mission, "to help students develop in mind, body, and spirit for service to Christ in the Church and the world." Students at CUW put the University’s mission into action in their own daily lives.

"At Concordia, we believe in providing opportunities for students to serve those in need in our community," Ann LeBaron, Physician Assistant Studies faculty member, said. "I am in awe of the number of students, faculty and staff who have demonstrated the practice of selflessness, as reflected in our mission, by donating meal swipes and monetary contributions."

Sodexo, CUW’s cafeteria supplier, will provide a box lunch to The Guest House for each meal swipe donated. Monetary donations will be used to provide additional food and supplies. On Wed., Feb. 11, CUW’s Physician Assistant Class of 2016 will deliver the box lunches and monetary donations to the more than 120 men currently staying at The Guest House.
