Mother-son team BJ and Chris Homayouni will soon open Cork MKE, a wine bar that dabbles into whiskey, at 1039 S. 5th. The space formerly housed The Glass Pantry and Green Life Trading Co.
Cork will specialize in serving wine and wine flights from around the world. They will also offer a careful selection of bourbons. Snacks, apps and desserts might be available down the road.
"Cork is going to have a dark, moody, sexy vibe," says Chris.
This is the second venture for the Homayounis, who also own the Union House in Cedarburg.
"I grew up in Cedarburg, and now I live in the Walker's Point area, so I'm excited to bring something new and different to the neighborhood I have grown to love as an adult," says Chris.
Cork MKE will be open Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from noon to 9 p.m. and from noon to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. It is speculated to be ready for the public in late November or early December. Stay tuned to OnMilwaukee for a First Look later this year.
