Cosí, the popular New York-based all day café, will
open its first Wisconsin location at the River Point Village Shopping
Center, 8775 N. Port Washington Rd., in Fox Point on Sat.,
Dec. 1.
"We are thrilled to be entering the Milwaukee market and look forward to expanding our presence in Wisconsin in 2002," said Cosí chairman Andy Stenzler. "We're excited to build a long-lasting relationship with the Milwaukee community."
Fox Point was selected as the first Wisconsin location because it possesses the two things Cosí looks for: areas with high traffic in the morning, afternoon and evening hours and a place with a neighborhood feel.
Cosí is known for its quality food and beverages served in a unique and changing environment. In the morning business is dominated by coffee and espresso drinks as well as breakfast dishes that include the "Cosí Squagel," a square shaped bagel made from Cosí bread, and the egg frittata sandwich.
Lunch business centers on the famous Cosí sandwiches. You can order items from the menu or create your own.
As the afternoon progresses, there are subtle changes in the environment. The lights dim, the music changes and the restaurant morphs from counter to table service.
The menu morphs with the atmosphere. At 5 p.m., alcohol and coffee cocktails become available, in addition to various after-work appetizers and dinner offerings. Cosí also offers a number of thin-crust pizzas.
The interior of Cosí aims for a hip, comfortable and colorful feel. Each location features Mondrian-like bar designs, oversized sofas and eclectic tables and chairs.
Currently there are Cosí locations in ten states around the country, including Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, Virginia, Michigan and Illinois. Another Milwaukee location is on the way and Madison will also get a Cosí.
