Mother might know best, but dad matters. Hence, a new group from the Parenting Network, called "Dad Matters," meets every Monday from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at 1717 S. 12th St., number. 101.

Attendance and on-site childcare are both free.

Darrell Jennings and Jeff Phillips, both local dads, facilitate the group. They raise questions and concerns about parenting, discuss ideas and share insights into the way kids think and behave.

The group focuses on proper discipline and communication with the child's mother, whether or not the couple lives together.

Milwaukee's Mike Hass considers attending the group.

"Kids don't come with instructions, and sometimes I feel like I'm shooting from the hip and not doing the right thing," he says. "Sometimes I think I could use a few pointers."
