Oh, the Channel 10 Great TV Auction, that lovely time of the media year when I generally make sure to avoid Channel 10 (not that the auction isn't riveting television; it's just ... not typically riveting television – especially when there's 107 other shows floating around that your friends insist you have to start watching).
But this year, at least for music buffs, there's definitely something at the auction worth tuning in for – and worth paying a bit, too.
For this year's edition – running from Friday, April 29 through Saturday, May 7 – an anonymous donor gave the auction handwritten lyrics and music from The Doors' "End of the Night."
No, Jim Morrison didn't write them himself – though the sheet's credit does bear the beloved frontman's name – but they were hand-drawn at Morrison's direction by Ray Manzarek. So they are authenticated and legit – as well as legitimately pretty cool.
The framed lyrics are valued at $9,500, so start saving up, music junkies. The future of "Masterpiece Theater" and reruns of "Downton Abbey" relies on you!
As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
