This spring will mark my 14th consecutive trip to the Phoenix area for Brewers Spring Training. In a long weekend that straddles the line between work and fun, this year will blur it even a little more, as I just finalized the details for the first-ever OnMilwaukee.com Brewers fan Spring Training tweet up at one of the best bars in downtown Scottsdale.
On Saturday, March 19, Dos Gringos in Old Town Scottsdale, will team up with OnMilwaukee.com to throw a happy hour party from 5 to 7 p.m. This "tweet up" follows the Brewers game against the Dodgers in Glendale. We hope you, and all the Brewers fans in town for Cactus League action, will join in the fun.
If you've never been to "Dos," it's a unique bar, set both inside and outside. With good, cheap food and a Mexican cantina vibe, it's a favorite hang out of Brewers fans, media types and front office guys -- and it's within walking distance of some of the hottest Scottsdale bars. The bar is also home base to a surprising number of Wisconsin natives -- I watched a Packers playoff game there in January and felt almost like I was home (except I was wearing shorts).
In addition to the bar's Saturday night drink specials of $3 Red Stripe Light, $4 Red Stripe, $5 Jose Cuervo Gold or Silver, and $8 Red Stripes and Cuervo combos, the bar is setting up dollar-off specials of Milwaukee's own Miller Lite for us thirsty Brewers fans. We'll also have some fun giveaways and raffles, and maybe even a few special guests -- I don't want to give away all the fun just yet.
If you've been to Arizona for Spring Training, you know that Brewers fans come to party, and through a surprisingly vibrant social media community, this tweet up has the makings of an epic event that might go well past 7 p.m. I'm excited that Dos Gringos has joined on as a sponsor of my Spring Training blogs this month, too, but I was a fan of the bar long before they were a client.
Tweet and retweet this blog, then come on down on March 19, and I'll show you why!
