A major complaint of people living and working Downtown and the Historic Third Ward is the lack of a large, modern convenience store like Walgreen's or CVS.
So, I'm calling for one (or two). Now.
Sure, there are a lot of small, pop in and buy a pack of gum type places. But, if you need what you can get at large pharmacy store like Walgreen's or CVS, you're out of luck and have to travel to the South Side, East Side or Marquette.
There is a Walgreen's inside the Shops of Grand Avenue, but let's be real, it's cramped, cluttered and way too small. Yes, the staff is good and friendly, but the selection isn't what people have come to expect from the retailer.
Many people are still calling for a Target in Downtown, and we'll keep our fingers crossed there. But, in the meantime it's high time for a new, nicer and bigger convenience store option Downtown. The numbers support it, and the demand is there.
How about a fancy Walgreen's? Like this one in Chicago. Why not? Frankly, greater Downtown could probably use two. One in the Third or Fifth Ward and another in Downtown proper.
Agree? If so, let Walgreen's, CVS or your favorite store know via Twitter.
