You already know that DVRs are awesome. They change the way you watch TV. They make every show "on demand."

And they fill up quickly, especially if you record HD shows.

Whether you have a cable, satellite or TiVo DVR, the hard drives that come installed are fairly puny. The Western Digital My DVR Expander 500 GB eSATA external hard drive will solve your space issues in about 20 seconds.

At about $90 on Amazon.com, you can certainly find cheaper 500 GB external hard drives, but none that connect this easily. Already completely compatible with both Time Warner's DVR boxes and TiVo's, you plug the drive in and attach it to the back of the cable box. In my case, my DVR went from about 90 percent full to 20 percent. It works quietly and seamlessly.

Now, I'll never have to decide what shows to blow away before they're watched. With an extra 300 hours of standard definition TV or 60 hours of HD content, you'll be all set for a long, long time.
