Stay safe, stay healthy, stay informed and stay joyful. We're all in this together. #InThisTogetherMKE
Spring is the time when many communities organize neighborhood cleanups to pick up litter and debris that accumulated during the winter. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 health emergency, spring cleanups for 2020 have been delayed or canceled.
However, as part of the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, a new Department of Neighborhood Services (DNS) and Department of Public Works (DPW) campaign encourages residents to take action in a new way: by solely focusing on cleaning up their own property via "Doorstep Cleanups."
"Doorstep Cleanups" ask residents to properly dispose of garbage in the front, back and sides of their homes / property while maintaining proper social distancing and staying in compliance with state and city orders to be Safer At Home.
Additional info about how to safely pick up litter and debris can be found at Milwaukee.gov/doorstepcleanup or kgmb.org.
Residents can also "Rep your door step and your neighborhood" by posting a picture of their pickup to social media with #DoorstepCleanUp. Be sure to mention where you live and tag DPW or DNS or any of the other partners: Keep America Beautiful, Eco-City, Milwaukee County Parks, MKE Parks, Milwaukee Recycles and Milwaukee Riverkeeper.
