Rock the Green, best known for its near-zero-waste fall music festival, hosts its fifth annual Earth Day Celebration on Friday – Earth Day – from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Downtown at the CityCenter building at 735 N. Water St.

At noon, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett will deliver remarks, along with Matt Howard, Director of the Alliance for Water Stewardship at The Water Council, and Lindsay Stevens Gardner, founder of Rock the Green.

Several community leaders will be on hand to provide information on environmental plans for the area and many local groups will provide eco-education.

Live music features musician Evan Christian, performing on a pedal-powered stage – check out pictures from last year's event for an idea of how that works. Several local food trucks will be in attendance to serve up lunch, on compostable serving ware provided by Patra Eco-Dinnerware.

Like all of Rock the Green's events, this will be a near-zero-waste event.
