Electric Lime Taqueria made a splash last August when it opened at 730 N. Milwaukee St. in the former home of Dick’s Pizza & Pleasure.

In fact, the trendy pink-hued taqueria, owned by Jessica Orr and operating partner Chef Gabriel Garcia, attracted such a great following that it's taken less than a year for the venue to outgrow its Milwaukee Street digs.

For that reason, the restaurant announced that Sept. 7 (today) will mark their last night of service in their current location. In fact,  all proceeds generated by sales from their final evening of sales will go to employees.

A big move

The taqueria was a refreshing additon to Milwaukee Street, offering up a menu that mixed modern sensibility with traditional flavors and catered equally to omnivores and plant-based diners. In fact, their tacos, burrito bowls and housemade salsas made it one of my top recommendations for fresh, well-executed Mexican fare.

Fortunately, the taqueria isn't moving far. Garcia notes that the new location is still Downtown and just a short distance from the original location. But it will provide a larger dining room along with better patio accommodations for guests.

In fact, you can watch for an announcement about the new digs in the coming weeks.

For now, grab yourself some of those delicious tacos and an awesome margarita while you still can.
