The Electric Love street festival will combine beer, food and music on Saturday, June 4, from noon until 1 a.m. at Indeed Brewing, 530 S. 2nd St. in Walker's Point.
The street will be closed from Bruce to Virginia where the free festival will host Bayside Plant Center Mobile Greenhouse Truck, the Adventure Rock Mobile Climbing Wall and lawn games, plus live music from WMSE's Saturday Afternoon Boogie Bang, Tigera, Buffalo Galaxy, NUR-D and Gego y Nony.
Plus, surprise guest, Milwaukee's Dropbear Collective, will perform at the afterparty beginning at 10 p.m.
"Stick around for the Electric Love afterparty ... in the taproom for some good tunes from some of the most talented musicians in Milwaukee," says Indeed Milwaukee Taproom Manager Grant Steskal.
Riley's Good Dogs, Twisted Plants, Meat On The Street, Pilcrow Coffee and Pete's Pops will provide sustenance at the festival and Indeed will tap all kinds of beer, including Sun Kids Pale Ale, Flavorwave IPA, Aquafuzz Hazy IPA, Staccato Italian Pilsner, Mexican Honey Vampiro, Hello Milwaukee pilsner, Real Magic Hard Seltzer and more.
“We’ve been wanting to organize a summer event since we opened in 2019 and this summer feels like the right time to start a great new Milwaukee festival tradition,” says Steskal.
“We wanted our music lineup as well as our food and activity partners to reflect the excitement of the start of summer in Milwaukee as well as the diversity of the neighborhood we call home."
The cash-only, all ages event is free and open to all and will be held rain or shine. There will be ATMs on site.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he lived until he was 17, Bobby received his BA-Mass Communications from UWM in 1989 and has lived in Walker's Point, Bay View, Enderis Park, South Milwaukee and on the East Side.
He has published three non-fiction books in Italy – including one about an event in Milwaukee history, which was published in the U.S. in autumn 2010. Four more books, all about Milwaukee, have been published by The History Press.
With his most recent band, The Yell Leaders, Bobby released four LPs and had a songs featured in episodes of TV's "Party of Five" and "Dawson's Creek," and films in Japan, South America and the U.S. The Yell Leaders were named the best unsigned band in their region by VH-1 as part of its Rock Across America 1998 Tour. Most recently, the band contributed tracks to a UK vinyl/CD tribute to the Redskins and collaborated on a track with Italian novelist Enrico Remmert.
He's produced three installments of the "OMCD" series of local music compilations for OnMilwaukee.com and in 2007 produced a CD of Italian music and poetry.
In 2005, he was awarded the City of Asti's (Italy) Journalism Prize for his work focusing on that area. He has also won awards from the Milwaukee Press Club.
He has be heard on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee talking about his "Urban Spelunking" series of stories, in that station's most popular podcast.
